So I learned a good bit more about the heads that are on my car yesterday.

I was told that they were "$2400 Pete Incuado heads" and that they were done recently (within the last year) with the intent of them being put on a bracket car.

I wasn't told anything about the flow numbers, parts used, etc...but was told that the person would find out and let me know. I never heard anything back on that subject.

After the heads were on the car I came to learn more about them in that they were on a blown GTO prior to mine and a TA prior to that. Naturally I thought it was a bit weird that since the heads were on two other cars, someone was more recently charged $2400 to build them. Didn't think much of it though at the time.

So I finally get a hold of the builder yesterday who was kind and professional in giving me whatever information he could on the heads. He said that he hasn't touched a set of those heads since he was at his other shop that closed down over a year ago. He said that he's not charged anyone $2400 for a set of those heads since they're so readily available. There is a stamp on the heads proving that he did in fact work on them at one point but from what he can recall he hasn't touched them since the first time he worked them.

According to the guy I got the heads from, they'd be re-worked by the original builder, with many upgrades, just before I got them. Now if the original builder didn't do it, I wonder who did and if they were qualified to do so. I was told that the heads had just had a valve job as well but if they'd been worked before, why would they need one and couldn't an additional working have the potential to cause damage to the heads?

As many know, I'm not very skilled in this area so I'm just curious about the potential harm that could be caused in this case.

people can and sometimes will make up all kinds of stuff to make the over priced sale. unless you are someone who knows what to look for all you can do is trust what they say. that is until someone can look them over for you.

As for the additional working to the heads damaging anything it all depends on how much was left after the first time they did em most likely. Who knows maybe his idea of a valve job was just takin them out and cleaning them up?

But from what I am reading the stories dont match up with the seller and the originall builder. Sounds like something is going on. Maybe nothing has been done to the heads but a good clean up before you got them. The guy was just tryin to boost em up to make a sale????

Again Noci, I haven't been provided with that information from the guy I got them from. He was kinda evasive about them and/or just flat out didn't know what had been done to them. I dunno.

You made a deal with someone based on trust and a handshake. Sounds like the hand you shook was not a very honest one this time. Aside from the valves tapping the tops of your pistons, if the heads were milled, there is a point where the intake won't be able to seal very well without modifying the intake as well.

Well if you get them inspected by a professional and they turn out to be bad I would go back to the seller and get my money back. Hopefully you have something in writing so that if he gives you shit you can always take him to small claims. Good luck, hope everything works out.

The deal for the heads wasn't a money deal. It was something else. I don't have an invoice/agreement for the heads since it was a handshake gimmick but the idiot posted it all over the intraweb so proof isn't really an issue at this point. LOL. Small claims is for pussies.

if the heads had been run before you got them of course they may have needed freshening (potentially changing/shimming springs, valve job, surfacing ect...)

What is wrong with the heads now if anything ?

I'll be happy to look them over unless you have made arrangements allready.
